This reveal is just another example of Capcom dipping into its back catalog and reviving a property or title that fans have already become very acquainted with, such as how it has done for The Great Ace Attorney, Ghosts n' Goblins, Mega Man, and Onimusha in recent years. Perhaps this port might only make it to PC and Nintendo Switch, or it could even be a full remake of the DS classic, reinterpreted for modern hardware.Įither way, Ghost Trick's imminent return is definitely something worth exciting fans of Capcom's adventure games, or even just fans of the genre in general. It begs the question of how the developer will adapt Ghost Trick's use of the Nintendo DS's hardware to modern platforms, given that the game makes great use of the dual-screens and touch screen functionality of the hardware.

Now, it appears that Capcom may be preparing for Ghost Trick's return, as Gematsu has spotted a Korean ratings board listing for the game that indicates an upcoming multi-platform re-release. While Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was praised upon release for its gripping narrative and memorable puzzles that made great use of the Nintendo DS's hardware, the game was not a commercial success, much like later Ace Attorney games, and did not receive a sequel or anything outside of an iOS port in 2012. The game is a puzzle based adventure game that, as previously mentioned, was written, designed, and directed by Ace Attorney creator Shu Takumi after he departed from the main series following 2007's Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was first released in Japan in June 2010 before arriving in North America and Europe in January 2011. While he's likely more known for his work on the Ace Attorney series, most recently last year's The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Capcom's Shu Takumi released another beloved Nintendo DS cult classic named Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective in 2010 that looks like it might be making a comeback.
